I am deeply honoured and humbled to have been elected President of Wexford Wanderers Rugby Club. It is such a privilege to follow in the footsteps of so many esteemed past presidents. As we prepare to celebrate our centenary next season, it is with immense pride and gratitude that I welcome you all to another exciting season of rugby.

Rugby is not just a sport; it’s a way of life. It unites people from diverse backgrounds and creates a sense of camaraderie that is truly unique. As we embark on this journey together, I want to emphasize the values that underpin our club: Respect, Integrity, Inclusivity, Fun and Excellence.

Our players, both on and off the field, exemplify the true spirit of rugby. They give their all, displaying unwavering dedication and determination. Our coaches play a vital role in shaping our players, instilling in them not just the skills to excel in the game, but the values to excel in life.

As President, I pledge to work tirelessly to support our club’s growth and development. We’ll focus on expanding our minis/youth programs, supporting or Men’s and Women’s teams, enhancing our facilities, and strengthening our ties within the community.

But let’s not forget our parents and guardians. Your passion and unwavering support fuel our team’s success. We are committed to creating an atmosphere where you can come together, celebrate victories, and stand strong in the face of defeats.

This season let’s remember that our club is not defined solely by the trophies we win but by the character we exhibit and the legacy we leave behind. I look forward to witnessing our players rise to new heights, our parents, and supporters making lifelong memories, and our club continuing to be a shining example of sportsmanship and unity in our community.

I would like to pay tribute to all past presidents and in particular our most recent President Kevin Byrne. During his four-year presidency we endured 2 years of covid however his love and dedication to Wexford Wanderers shone through like a beacon for all to witness.

Thank you for entrusting me with the privilege of leading this incredible club. Let’s make this season a memorable one, filled with outstanding rugby, friendship, and a shared commitment to the ideals of our beloved sport.
