FULL UPDATE: St Patrick's Day Parade Route & Meeting Point

Notice to all teams marching in Patrick’s Day Parade

The Parade committee would like to bring to your notice the following:

Please dress your child in a warm tracksuit under their Club jerseys as it can get very cold standing around waiting for the parade to start in the morning.

Gaps of more than twenty feet are not allowed. All groups will have to ensure that there is little or no gap between them and the group in front. The leader of the group to be identified with a yellow high Vis vest so that stewards know who they are to contact in the event of an emergency.

Due to public opinion, we would ask that there will be no stopping at the reviewing stand if you have to stop then the time limit is one and a half minutes. Any group that exceeds two minutes will be deemed to have excluded themselves from the judging of prizes. We have a time frame to start and finish the parade we must be finished no later than 12-30pm, so we ask you for your co-operation on this in ensuring that we finish on time.

All Wexford Wanderers teams will meet their coach at the Four Seasons Laundrette at the top of William St/Trinity Street from 10.15am

Under 6s must have a parent with them.

All groups will be in their position no later than 10.30am so that the parade will start sharp at 11.00am.   When you arrive please ask any of the stewards (wearing orange jackets) for your placing in the parade. Please be aware that the roads in the area will close at 10am sharp and we would ask that people avoid dropping off their children, as it will cause congestion. Please move to the area allocated by the stewards and do not move from there until you are instructed to do so.

The route of the parade will be as follows: Brendan’s Road, William Street, Trinity Street, Paul Quay, Crescent Quay, Custom House Quay, Commercial Quay, Redmond Place and Redmond Square. The reviewing stand will be located on the Quay Front adjacent to the bridge.

In the event of an emergency:  The emergency services will sound their sirens all groups must move swiftly to the left hand side of the road this is the town side, to allow access for emergency vehicles, to move freely on the quay side of the road and at the same time not blocking any of the side streets leading on to the quays. Group leaders please note this and inform your group of the Emergency procedure prior to start of parade.

Please inform all parents not to stop in Redmond Square after the parade or to walk back along the parade route to collect children, as this has caused delays with the parade and it is also a source of danger to your group. Please proceed directly to your hall or club house. If you have transport arranged to collect you, it would be advisable to have it as far away from Redmond Square as possible like Hill Street or John Street so that it does not interfere with the floats leaving the parade. It is essential that all these routes are clear of traffic; this is a directive from the Garda.

We will stop for a short while at Marathon fitness on Redmond Road if anyone would like to pick up their child, and will then march all the children back to the Clubhouse.

All Wexford Wanderers players and parents are welcome back to the Clubhouse after the parade for a little treat of crisps, lolipops and juice.

The Bar will be open and we’ll have Live Horse racing on the Big Screen for the Adults.

I would ask that at all times and in the interest of public safety that you co-operate and assist the parade stewards and club coaches in whatever way possible.
